
SUMMIT has successfully delivered a range of career management services; providing one to one careers interviews; delivering interactive group sessions; supporting students on internships and engaging with local employers in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to recruit to vacancies. Summit has also conducted a range of soft skills and psychometric assessments with individuals, undergraduates, public and private sector employees:
1. Careers Guidance Activities with Undergraduates
a). Career Interviews
Career Guidance Interviews provide students with the opportunity for a confidential 1:1 discussion to develop and review their career goals. Careers interviews help students to understand the process of making informed realistic decisions about their preferred work choice and study options. A detailed individual Career Action Plan is produced which identifies the students skills, strengths and areas for further professional and personal development required. Students are offered ongoing guidance and support throughout their studies to develop their career plans. Careers Advisers can offer guidance and support on practical areas such as information and understanding of the local labour market and employers requirements, job search strategies, CV writing and information resources to support job search and career decision making.
b). Career Management Workshops
SUMMIT offers a range of tailored Career Management Workshops to support students to develop essential employability skills. Sessions delivered include CV Writing, Interview Skills, Time Management, Study Skills, Networking and Job Search Strategies.
2. Psychometric Assessment for Career Changers
Summit provides career management services to corporate clients on an individual basis; one of our qualified careers management advisors designs a coaching plan that is tailored to the individual client’s requirements. Through a sequence of one to one careers guidance sessions, supported by Psychometric Assessment, the client receives intensive support from an expert in the field of careers guidance, to enable them to make effective career decisions.
3. Recruitment Support for Graduates of Abu Dhabi University
Summit Recruitment Consultants work closely with the graduates seeking employment from Abu Dhabi University and with employers looking to acquire talented fresh graduates.
The graduates receive a range of services to help support their job search process; this includes an initial meeting with a Recruitment Consultant to discuss their preferred options and support to prepare for job interviews such as conducting a panel mock interview.
Employers always receive a personalized and professional service from the Recruitment Team, to help them to meet their Company requirements. Services include the initial screening and interview of graduates on behalf of employers, before passing on their CV for consideration to ensure that employers are only presented with candidates who meet their criteria.
Furthermore, Summit is an accredited trainer of an internationally recognized Career Guidance qualification. Past graduates of the course are employed in a wide range of roles in the government and in industry. The course has received an A grading from the external verifiers, EDEXCEL, for the quality of the training and the robust quality of assessment.
4. Training to become a Careers Adviser
Summit offers an excellent professional work based training programme which enables individuals to practice as Careers Advisers in the United Arab Emirates and elsewhere in the world.
The training is a mixture of lectures, assignments and assessed practical exercises. Summit trainers are highly experienced and qualified as Careers Advisers and Assessors providing the materials, seminars, one-to-one tutorials and support to help complete the course successfully.
What’s more, SUMMIT, in partnership with the International Centre for Excellence in Guidance, has also facilitated strategic and practitioner sessions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, on behalf of the British Council, to support the development of career guidance in the region.
5. Delivery of Careers Guidance workshop in the UAE
Careers Guidance Strategic and Practitioner workshops were held in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, in partnership with the British Council, to consider best practice, quality assurance and the role of Careers Guidance in the United Arab Emirates.
The workshops were attended by Key government departments - ADEC and KHDA- responsible for the Careers Guidance Strategy in the UAE and those delivering services for students and employees.
As a result of these achievements SUMMIT recently presented workshops at the Counseling Arabia Conference, including on the Development of a Career Interest Guide for Emirati Students and the successful Development and Delivery of a Career Guidance Qualification in the United Arab Emirates.
